Møme

Bio

In April 2014, Môme releases his EP Triple House on Victoriaville. On this occasion, Stefan Goldmann, the boss of the German label, declares that “Môme has become very quickly the new God of French House”. It all starts on the 11th January 1978. In the company of his father and his collection of 40,000 78rpm records. Bertrand Lacroix falls head first into music. The French boy swims in 30′s and 50′s American Jazz before knowing how to walk. At just 10 years old he places his first vinyl New Beat on the family record player and organises his first parties in the garage. For Môme, “it’s just a bit of fun” but electronic music is already clearly present in his life. At 18, Môme mixes for the first time in a night club and his eyes are opened to a new life. Night life. When lost in music the pleasure is the same as when he was a child. For the time being it is not immediately his profession. A higgledy piggledy type, Môme is a car mechanic, a skatepark owner, Radio DJ, owner of a record shop and later a coffee shop and co-producer of Nördik Impact. For 5 years at one of the most important music festivals in France, he invites, DJ Pierre, Goldie and even Green Velvet. At the end of 2012, Raphaël the boss of Fragil music offered him the chance to release an album on his label, and of course Mome didn’t think twice. The result ? Control, an EP acompanied by a remix by Tevo Howard. The track is played by Nick Höppner during his Boiler Room set and for Andrew Weatherall, “Control is the best track to start a set”. From this point on, his noticeable and energetic musical approach to House shakes the electronic world. In 2013 the man who says he’s influenced by Moodyman, Tony Allen or even Django Reinhardt has non stop Ep’s released on Housewax, Lake Placid, FTWR. A year later we find Môme over at 4lux, Victoriaville, Skylax… Gerd, Alden Tyrell, Stefan Goldmann and Marquis Hawkes being remixed. During this period the French boy delivers his music to Berlin, Manchester, Montréal, the whole of France and gets his residence and programming for the Nid a concepual bar designed by Jean Jullien and perched at the sommet of the 32nd floor of the Tour de Bretagne in Nantes. From up there, Môme looks out upon his previous lives and sees that it all started with a Count Basie tune.
