Cargo

Bio

Danish Euro Dance group founded by the producers Kenn Haunstoft aka The Killer and Ronnie Veiler aka DJ NME. The two producers came together to finish a remix of "Trucker Lindy" by the Danish cover band Diskofil. In 1998 they met rapper Mikee Simonsen and the début single "Cargo (The Horn)" was born. First single was "The Horn" a simple house track with the sound of a truck horn in it. The song was also used for inspiration to the groups name... Cargo There second single "Loaded with Power" got a Grammy nomination for best dance single of the year in 1999. They released their most successful single in 1999; "Porn*Star". The song was not a dj favorite for several month in Denmark, but people in clubs wanted to hear it. It ended being the biggest hit they ever had. Porn*star was on the danish dance chart for 56 weeks and 42 on the request chart. The song was played on national radio in the NOT censured version in the day time. The explicit lyrics and easy understanderble rap from Mikee, made it a hit outside Denmark also. The song was taken from the album "The Movie" (later re-released in 2000 with remixes). The album sold 25.000 copies in one month and stayed in the Top 20 chart for six weeks. For the second album "Sex Appeal" singer Cecilia Cruz joined the band. Shortly after the release their record label Orange Records closed, and with no promotion the album went to sell over 6000 copies. Cargo played more then 400 gigs in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Spain, England and Greenland. In April 2000 they signed a new record deal with Big Star Records and their music changed from Euro Dance to House and R'n'B. After the 2002-single "I'll Show You", Cecilia Cruz left the band to pursue a career as a journalist, and the group was now back to the original line-up. In 2003 they released the summer track Vacation feat. the jazz singer Yazzmin. In 2005 they released there last track "The Party". After a short tour around Denmark, the boys decided to split up. Cargo had there last concert in Vejle Denmark 2006. In 2014, 15 years after the first release of the smash hit Porn*Star the boys are back and ready with a new version of the song. The group teamed up with local producer Michael Østergaard and made Porn*Star 2014.
