Bio
A student of sound with an interest in creative writing, Matt “Variex” Ghiglieri is a San Francisco, California based recording artist, music producer, and audio engineer. Evolving as the “x variable” since 2001, his music is a blend of downtempo, shoegazey hip-hop and introspective lyricism. Aside from composing, he continues to mix and master music as an affiliate of the New Cocoon collective and Milled Pavement Records.
Variex has released several self-produced albums, two projects with A. Hymnz, and has engineered various New Cocoon releases. He has also worked with a long list of independent artists, including 2Mex, Brad Hamers, Brzowski, Cars & Trains, Ceschi Ramos, Chris Amblin (of Nedry), Danielle Ate the Sandwich, Dynamo414, Factor (with Kaigen & Rickolus), Kid Presentable!!!, Noah23, OneWerd, Oskar Ohlson, Otem Rellik, Swordplay, and Tommy V.
His newest album, “Braille Dive,” is out July 14th, 2015, on Milled Pavement Records. Physical copies are available at variex.bandcamp.com, and it will also be available digitally on milledpavement.com, iTunes, and Amazon.
